Srimad Bhagavatam

Date:

The Śrīmad Bhāgavatam is the crown jewel of all Vedic scriptures and the natural commentary on the Vedānta-sūtra, revealing the pure science of bhakti-yoga. It is the divine literary incarnation of Śrī Ananda Govinda, spoken by Śukadeva Gosvāmī and heard by Mahārāja Parīkṣit, describing the Lord’s transcendental names, forms, qualities, and pastimes.

Composed of twelve cantos and eighteen thousand verses, the Śrīmad Bhāgavatam guides the soul toward loving devotional service by glorifying the Supreme Personality of Godhead as the ultimate shelter of all beings. From the creation of the universe to the sweet pastimes of Lord Krishna in Vṛndāvana, every verse directs the reader toward surrender, humility, and divine love.

The Bhāgavatam declares that this sacred scripture is meant for sincere seekers who desire freedom from material suffering and the awakening of pure devotion. Regular hearing and recitation of the Śrīmad Bhāgavatam cleanses the heart and establishes the Lord firmly within one’s consciousness.

The glories of hearing Śrīmad Bhāgavatam include:

  • Awakening of pure love for Śrī Ananda Govinda
  • Destruction of ignorance, fear, and material attachment
  • Deep understanding of dharma, devotion, and divine purpose
  • Association with saintly teachings and transcendental wisdom

At the Temple of Śrī Ananda Govinda, Śrīmad Bhāgavatam is honored through daily readings, discourses, and devotional discussions, inviting all to immerse themselves in the nectar of the Lord’s pastimes and teachings.

May the eternal wisdom of the Śrīmad Bhāgavatam illuminate our hearts and firmly establish loving service at the lotus feet of Śrī Ananda Govinda.
