Srila
Prabhupada

The spiritual ambassador who brought the timeless wisdom of the Vedas to the West.

Young Abhay Charan De
1896: Calcutta

The Chosen Messenger

Born Abhay Charan De on September 1, 1896, his destiny was shaped by a single encounter in 1922. His spiritual master, Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakur, requested him to spread the message of Krishna Consciousness in the English-speaking world.

For decades, Abhay prepared—balancing family responsibilities and deep scriptural study—until the call of renunciation became absolute.

"Preach the message of Lord Chaitanya to the English-speaking world and you will be benefited, and the people who receive it will be benefited."

The Silence of Preparation

Before the global movement, there were years of austerity in the holy land of Vrindavan.

Across the Ocean of Faith

At 69, Srila Prabhupada boarded the Jaladuta cargo ship. He carried only 40 rupees, a trunk of books, and a heart full of devotion. After surviving two heart attacks at sea, he arrived at Boston’s Commonwealth Pier, ready to begin his mission.
